P403

As part of my P403 course, I had the wonderful opportunity to teach a cycling class, providing a hands-on experience in leading a group fitness session. My responsibilities included planning an engaging and effective workout, incorporating principles of cardiovascular fitness and exercise programming, and adapting routines to accommodate participants with varying fitness levels. During this 30-minute session, my partner Arlette and I guided students through warm-ups, intervals, and cool-downs while maintaining a motivating and inclusive atmosphere. I also monitored participants' form and provided real-time feedback to ensure safety and effectiveness. This role required me to balance technical knowledge with interpersonal skills, creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

This learning experience was significant because it allowed me to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in a real-world setting. Teaching the cycling class strengthened my ability to design and implement exercise programs while developing adaptability and problem-solving skills. I learned how to engage and motivate a group of participants, improving my communication and leadership abilities. Additionally, this experience boosted my confidence in leading group fitness, an essential skill for my future career in the health and fitness industry. Overall, teaching this class provided me with invaluable insights into effective instruction and the importance of creating a positive, goal-oriented environment

5k Run

As part of my P403 course, I was challenged to train for and complete a 5K run, an experience that pushed me physically and mentally. Preparing for the race involved following a structured training plan that progressively increased my endurance and speed. Balancing this training with my academic and personal responsibilities required significant commitment and time management. On race day, I faced the physical demands of the event while maintaining a mindset focused on perseverance and personal achievement. Despite moments of fatigue, I pushed through to finish the race, motivated by the goal I had worked toward over several weeks

This learning experience was significant because it taught me the importance of setting goals and following through with consistent effort and discipline. Training for the 5K allowed me to apply cardiovascular endurance, proper running form, and recovery strategies, in a personal and practical way. The process also helped me recognize the value of mental resilience and self-motivation in achieving milestones, not only in fitness but in all areas of life. Completing the 5K gave me a sense of accomplishment and reinforced the importance of pushing beyond perceived limits to realize my potential.

This is a picture of me when I ran a 5k years ago at my local YMCA for thanksgiving!
